Snow clearing happens while everyone else is asleep. That’s the point — but it also means customers never see the work they pay for. Snevagten wanted to change that, and make it just as easy to become a customer.
Snevagten
Snow cleared at 4 am, and customers can see it.
Snevagten keeps car parks and pavements clear and safe through the Danish winter. I led the customer portal and the online price calculator, as part of a five-person team building the platform behind them.
How it works
- 01
One question at 4 am
When it snows in the night, Snevagten’s customers want to know one thing — has my car park been cleared? Until now, the answer was a phone call.
- 02
See it for yourself
In the customer portal, every clearing and salting run shows up as a receipt — next to invoices, contracts and messages. No call needed.
- 03
A price without the wait
New customers used to wait for someone to measure their site. Now they type their address, draw the area on a map, and get a price straight away.
- 04
One platform underneath
Both tools sit on the same platform, built by a team of five. It handles the drivers, the customers and the billing, and passes quotes and invoices on to sales and accounting.

Choices I made
- 01
Two small tools, one shared platform
Existing customers and new customers need completely different things.
The portal and the price calculator are separate tools on the same platform, so each can change on its own.
The catch Two things to maintain — but each one small and focused.
- 02
Draw instead of describe
Describing a car park in a form is slow, and the answer is rarely precise.
Customers draw the area on a map, and the price follows from what they drew.
The catch The price is only as good as the drawing — so the map has to be easy to get right.
- 03
Show every visit
At 4 am in a snowstorm, customers want proof, not a phone call.
Every clearing run becomes a receipt the customer can see in the portal.
The catch Information from the drivers has to reach the portal reliably — which is where the shared platform comes in.
The result
- Everyclearing run shows up in the customer’s portal
- 5developers on the platform team
- 3business systems connected — accounting and two CRMs
- 1,142automated checks on the shared platform
